“With the new Lancia Ypsilon, the first car of the brand’s new era, we start again from Italy. Its design is inspired by the brand’s glorious past, which is now reinterpreted in a modern key. The model represents the ultimate expression of on-board comfort and design, characterised by technology and connectivity at the top of its category, but always simple and intuitive, in perfect Lancia style,” said Luca Napolitano, CEO of Lancia. A result also achieved thanks to the collaboration with Cassina who, together with the Turin Style Centre led by Jean-Pierre Ploué, designed a real living room, inspired by cosy Italian homes. Available in Italy in 1906 certified and numbered units, in homage to the year of Lancia’s birth, the Cassina Ypsilon sanctions the bond between two excellences in their respective fields, automotive and interior design, and represents the evolution of a path begun with the creation of the interiors of the Lancia Pu+Ra HPE concept: the two brands are in fact linked by shared values, such as a vocation for research and innovation, respect for their past and tradition, as well as attention to environmental issues.

The Ypsilon Cassina is electric only, with a 156 horsepower engine and a 54 kilowatt-hour battery for a range of 403 kilometres. The model reinterprets the historic grille on the front in a modern key, now revisited through three beams of light, and displays the Lancia inscription present on all future models, the iconic round LED rear lights, inspired by the legendary Lancia Stratos, and the innovative S.A.L.A. (Sound Air Light Augmentation) infotainment system, a pillar of Lancia’s effortless technology, together with level 2 autonomous driving, which allows you to travel in extra-urban environments with more safety, simplifying the on-board experience. The exterior features the soft, elegant, pure and sensual forms of the Aurelia and Flaminia, combined with the most modern expressions of radicalism and simplicity, inspired by the brand’s sporting history embodied by the famous Stratos and Delta, as well as the language of architecture, interior design and fashion.

The reference to the most brutal soul of the brand clearly emerges in the rear of the car, characterised by the richest lighting system in the segment, in terms of technology and extension: New Lancia Ypsilon in fact features the iconic full round LED lights, with a reference to the unforgettable Lancia Stratos, a legendary model for the rally world. The two headlamps now contain a new design element, the letter Y, an extreme symbolic synthesis that is arranged horizontally within the circumferences, and frame the new Lancia lettering, made in a satin stainless steel finish and distinguished by the original font that takes its inspiration from one of the Italian excellences most closely linked to the history of the brand, fashion, “signing” the future of the brand to make it desirable and always contemporary.

Life on board the New Lancia Ypsilon is made even more relaxing thanks to various devices. Of particular note are the keyless entry and start system and the parking aid system, the best standard equipment in the segment, consisting of cameras with a 180° view and front and rear sensors to facilitate manoeuvres, and the dual screen, the largest display in the category with 20.5″ diagonal overall and a 10.25″ digital radio-instrument panel, customisable both in layout and colour. The model reflects the extreme care devoted to every stylistic detail, from the selection of materials to the choice of colours, with the use of blue, an iconic colour in Lancia’s tradition, running through both the interior and exterior of the car.

A soft, recycled blue velvet wraps the seats, characterised by a ‘Cannelloni’ motif and double stitching, and the same shade is picked up on the dashboard and in the door panel and dashboard inserts, creating an elegant and coordinated interior space. Lancia blue also distinguishes the model’s exterior, which is unique, elegant and contemporary: the hue blends here with the black of the dark diamond-patterned alloy wheels, resulting in a refined and homogeneous visual impact, free of chrome. Another of the distinctive elements is the Cassina multifunctional table, an unprecedented design element in bio-based plastic that highlights the brand’s manufacturing expertise, and the first table used inside a car, thanks to which Lancia, in keeping with its historical values, creates a welcoming and hospitable space. The car’s interior becomes an authentic ‘living room’, capable of guaranteeing that feeling of comfort typical of Italian homes: a harmonious and elegant space.
