Every respectable Jeep must also have all-wheel drive, and thus, the Jeep Avenger lineup expands with the introduction of a new all-wheel drive variant for the smallest SUV of the brand. Its name is 4xe and it utilizes the same hybrid system already available on the model but adds a second electric motor on the rear axle. Under the hood, there is a 1.2-liter turbo engine producing 136 CV. Despite being a mild-hybrid powertrain, the Jeep Avenger 4xe can still operate in fully electric mode, although only for very short distances.

The introduction of all-wheel drive also brings some interesting stylistic updates. To emphasize the model’s more off-road character, Jeep’s designers have particularly focused on the front end: the bumper is entirely new, featuring a larger air intake. The fog lights have been moved higher to ensure better illumination when driving off-road. Additionally, there is a new skid plate at the bottom, and the overall new shapes of the bumper allow the model to boast an improved approach angle of 35°. Changes at the rear are more modest, now featuring a large, fixed tow hook and a dedicated skid plate design. Small modifications have also been made to the interior of the Avenger 4xe. The materials chosen for the seat coverings are washable and exclusive to this version.

During the reveal of the Avenger 4xe, Jeep also unveiled another interesting novelty that will hit our roads in the coming years. This is the Wagoneer S, an electric vehicle that will introduce a new design language for the American brand. We’ll talk about it in detail in the dedicated design story in a next issue of Auto&Design.
