Mourning in the world of car design. Ian Cameron, former head of design at Rolls-Royce, died tragically on 12 July in Germany following a robbery at his home near Herrsching, Bavaria. Investigators are looking into the possibility that the attacker, who stabbed Cameron, tried to steal from Cameron’s collection of valuable cars.
“Ian has played a significant role in reshaping Rolls-Royce since it was first acquired by the BMW Group and moved to its headquarters in Goodwood, West Sussex,” said Rolls-Royce. Ian Cameron began his career at Pininfarina in 1975 after graduating from the Royal College of Art. From 1981 to 1992 he worked at Iveco reaching the position of Chief Designer and in 1992 he moved to BMW as Exterior Design Studio Manager. In 1999 he was promoted to Head of Design at Ross-Royce, a position he held for over 13 years before opening Ian Cameron Design Partners, his own design consultancy.
