Carlo Bonzanigo will be the new head of design of Pininfarina starting from next January 9th, reporting directly to CEO Silvio Pietro Angori. Bonzanigo succeeds Fabio Filippini, design vice president since April 2011, leaving the company for personal reasons on March 31st, 2017.
For Bonzanigo is actually a comeback. Born in Lugano 50 years ago, an Italian and Swiss citizen, he started his career in Pininfarina in 1995 following a Master in transportation design from the Art Center College of Design of Vevey, Switzerland and, previously, a Master degree in mechanical engineer from the University of Zurich.
In 2004 he moved to Paris to PSA Group, working for the Citroën brand with several responsibilities, including, for several years, the role of Head of Concept Car and Advanced Design.
From 2008 to 2012 he was “Maître Expert Design” of PSA Peugeot Citroën, representing “Design Expertise” of the Group at congresses and in international committees.
The list of projects run under his guidance includes the concept cars Citroën DS Hypnos, Citroën DS Revolte, Citroën Tubik and DS Numéro 9; among the production cars, Citroën C3 Picasso, C4 AirCross and C1.
In 2015 Bonzanigo left PSA Group to join Q-iD in Forlì, Italy, a consultant company specialised in automotive and industrial design, to lead – as Design Director of the Automotive Division and Member of the Board of Q-iD – the Automotive Division Q-Red in Maranello.
