The Navigator is currently the iconic car of Lincoln, a luxury brand in the Ford galaxy. The model update planned by the American manufacturer brought updated technological equipment and aesthetic changes that refreshed but did not disrupt the Navigator’s overall design. “Making an already wildly successful vehicle like the Navigator better is no small feat, but our team was able to come up with a new design that is more sophisticated and elegant both inside and out,” says Kemal Curic, who leads Lincoln design from 2019.
“Based on our experience in the luxury vehicle segment, we rethought the interior as a space isolated from the world where our customers can spend time enjoying a relaxing environment surrounded by quality materials,” Curic continues. The designers also wanted to reinforce the image of the exterior by creating a new front grille with a large vertical Lincoln logo in the center. The design of the LED headlights has also been refined with a more modern and streamlined look, while the full-width LED rear lights guarantee a certain scenic effect.
The large passenger compartment can comfortably accommodate up to seven passengers, welcomed into an environment finished with luxury materials and surrounded by technology. In the full optional configuration there are four large screens from which to manage the functions of the Sync 4 infotainment system: the largest, in the center of the dashboard, measures 13.2 inches, while in front of the driver there is a 12-inch digital instrumentation. Backseat passengers can also count on two 5.8-inch screens located on the front seat backs.
For the Color&Trim portion of the research, designers added two new trims, Central Park and Invitation, which join Chalet and Yacht Club. “We continue to evolve our fittings based on luxury trends and the changing environment,” says Marcia Salzberg, senior color and materials designer. “In particular, Central Park and Invitation both represent an optimistic view of the future.” Two new colorways, Starlight Gray and Manhattan Green Metallic, the latter reserved for the Lincoln Black Label edition, have been added to the various color and material combinations already possible for the model. For the interior mouldings, it is now possible to choose two new wood applications: Espresso Ash Swirl and Santos Rosewood.
