“The Emira captures the visual drama of an exotic supercar, with big proportions, a large footprint on the ground and a cabin that sits low between muscular flanks.” Russell Carr, Lotus design chief, describes in a video the key design elements of the Lotus Emira, a heat-engine sports car that takes up the legacy of models such as the Elise, Exige and Evora.
The Emira is the first Lotus petrol engine sports car to usher in the new design language first shown on the Evija electric hypercar. It’s a contemporary look with sculpted surfaces and technical details, offering exotic supercar appeal in the sports car segment. A new and more premium approach for Lotus in terms of shapes and materials, it’s also a leap forward in fit and finish.
Vertical LED headlights are standard across the range, with a double-blade design inspired by birds’ wings. At the rear, Lotus branding dominates the bumper, above a body-colored panel that is clearly inspired by the rear of the Evija. The interior has been built around the driver, thanks to a pure ergonomic design and instruments positioned for the most intuitive use. The Emira follows these principles to the letter to create a modern driving environment with essential controls at your fingertips while avoiding the slightest distraction. The two seats are designed to combine exceptional lateral support for high-speed cornering with total comfort for long-distance travel.
