“It is an Urus that has gone to the gym and improved its shape, volumes and performance”. This is how Lamborghini design chief Mitja Borkert describes the new Urus Performante, the most powerful version of the Sant’Agata Bolognese SUV presented at The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering event in California. The designers have increased the 4.0 V8 to 666 bhp and lightened the weight of the car by 47 kg to increase its performance, which translates into 3.3 seconds to go from 0 to 100 km/h and a top speed of 306 km/h that can be reached.
“All the muscles in this car are in the right place”, continues Borkert, “we wanted to create an ultra-high-performance SUV that was also beautiful to look at: that’s why we used carbon fibre as the main element of the exterior and chose to keep it visible”. The pure, sharper and more prominent lines of the bonnet and bumpers immediately underline its super sports vocation, while keeping the innate elegance of the Urus family intact. The extensive use of composite materials makes the Urus Performante the car with the most carbon fibre elements for an SUV.
With deep cuts along the lines that reach as far as the front bumper, the bonnet with extractors is made of lightweight carbon fibre in the same colour as the bodywork or, as an option, partially exposed carbon fibre. The roof, which can also be made in carbon fibre on request, echoes Lamborghini super sports models such as the Huracán Performante and Super Trofeo.
The interior of the standard version is in Nero Cosmus Alcantara, with seat stitching that makes up a new hexagonal motif, “Performante Trim” (and further options that also include leather upholstery). Dedicated colour and trim options include an extension of the Performante Trim to the doors, roof lining, seat backs and rear panel, with further Ad Personam personalisation including matt carbon fibre detailing, red door handles and a customised lower door stop with Ad Personam logo.
