At Ces in Las Vegas, Peugeot presented Inception, a concept car that anticipates the future of the French brand through a series of innovative styling proposals. “The Peugeot Inception Concept projects you into a new dimension, between dream and reality, promising intense emotions as soon as you approach, touch or get on board. Its ambition is to bring most of its innovations into production from 2025,” said Peugeot head of design Matthias Hossann. The front bumper adopts a new light signature that incorporates the three Lion claws, bringing together the grille and the part dedicated to the sensors for the grille assistance systems in a single element. In the centre, the backlit logo with 3D effect.
A theme taken up again at the rear, where the designers have adopted a surface treatment in a tech key. We find the three claws in the light signatures of the headlights and the full-width glass bar. The design team worked extensively on the vehicle’s aerodynamics: the design of the 20-inch Aerorim rims facilitates the passage of air, reducing drag and increasing the range of the Inception, which was built on the STLA Large platform of the Stellantis group. The Inception’s body colour is composed of very fine metallic pigments and is one-coat, resulting in less wear during application than a conventional paint job.
Inception presents a new evolution of the Peugeot i-Cockpit. The absolutely new element is the Hypersquare, the steer-by-wire steering wheel inspired by video games that allows all functions to be controlled with the tips of the fingers, with simple clicks or presses. The centre of the Hypersquare consists of a screen dedicated to control information. The two side parts display the various functions (climate control, radio volume, Adas, etc.) for easy access to the chosen control. When the Inception switches to autonomous driving mode (level 4), the Hypersquare retracts, giving way to a large panoramic screen for passenger entertainment.
