BMW has unveiled the new generation of the X2 coupe SUV. The car has a distinctive and visually expressive design that departs from the X1 SUV with which it shares a base. Also characteristic of the new model are dynamically taut lines and a generous surface treatment. The new X2 has grown by 194 millimetres in length to 4,554 millimetres, by 21 millimetres in width to 1,845 millimetres and by 64 millimetres in height to 1,590 millimetres. In addition, the longer wheelbase and wider tracks favour space for occupants and luggage.
The model-specific upright front end expresses confidence and presence. Its distinguishing features are LED headlights and an almost hexagonal BMW double kidney grille, which – for the first time in the premium compact segment – can be illuminated in its contour. The roofline, which runs along an uninterrupted path at the rear, creates a streamlined, coupé-like silhouette, while at the rear, prominent wheel arches and muscular shoulders stand out. Customers can choose between two solid and eleven metallic paint finishes for the exterior of their new X2, including the new Fire Red metallic variant.
The interior of the new X2 presents a modern premium ambience with sporty touches. The slim instrument cluster, which houses the curved display, is joined in the cabin by a ‘floating’ armrest with integrated control panel. At the front of the centre console are two cupholders and a smartphone compartment with indirect lighting and wireless charging. Automatic dual-zone climate control, the BMW Maps navigation system and a leather sports steering wheel are all standard in the new X2, as are automatic tailgate operation, four USB-C ports and a 12-volt power socket in both the centre console.
