You can and must dream. That’s what Iveco’s designers have in mind with the Electric Race Truck, Metallica and Fcev special projects, extreme variants of the S-Way, the truck whose styling and content have just been updated (Cover story in A&D no. 265). And so from a vehicle designed to make work easier, more relaxed and pleasanter can be born something of great originality that gives free rein to the imagination. These are not, however, mere styling exercises: “These are serious projects that also allow us, as in the case of the Race Truck, to take part in races in the category championships”, explains Marco Armigliato, Head of Centro Stile at Iveco Group.
IVECO S-WAY ELECTRIC RACE TRUCK
Born out of a partnership between the Iveco Group and Hahn racing team, this prototype blends extreme performance seamlessly with environmental sustainability. The Iveco Industrial Design department has come up with a customised sports livery for the truck that captures the idea of intense passion and unrivalled performance and, above all, conveys the feeling of a zero emissions vehicle designed to race. Every surface of the race truck was meticulously developed to embody the synergy between clean energy, extreme aerodynamics and the passion for cutting-edge trucking that has always lain at the heart of the Iveco Group.
The special livery of this decidedly rock S-Way recalls the iconic cover of Metallica’s ’72 Season’ album. The Metallica S-Way catches the eye for the matt black background of its bodywork, which is literally inundated by the bright yellow finish of the side of the cab. A disruptive aesthetic, strongly inspired by the rock band’s powerful music. The designers have also created a special front grille for the model, decorated with the legendary Metallica logo.
IVECO S-eWAY AND S-eWAY FCEV
The S-eWay is the electric variant for which the style center has created a specific color scheme for the front grille, with metallic blue and titanium accents. The colors were chosen to underline the sustainable spirit of the vehicle. A hydrogen version is also available, the S-eWay FCEV which has a specific aerodynamic bonnet and a longer rear part of the cabin: here the large tanks where the fuel is stored are housed. the color chosen for the chosen launch has the aim of communicating at a glance the sense of sustainability and respect for the environment.
