Jeep is present at the 58th Easter Jeep Safari, which will be held until 31 March 2024 in Moab, Utah, with four new eye-catching, action-ready concepts.
Concept Jeep Low Down
Fifteen years ago, the Jeep design team amazed participants at the 43rd Easter Jeep Safari with the radically modified Jeep Wrangler Lower 40. What changed were the tyres, two imposing 40-inchers capable of tackling muddy terrain, and the engine, a 5.7-litre V-8 with extraordinary power. Immediately becoming a classic, ten and a half years after its introduction the Lower 40 concept remains one of the enthusiasts’ favourite EJS concepts. The new Low Down concept pays homage to the Lower 40. This new Jeep Wrangler model has undergone a careful and renewed space planning. The bodywork, painted in an intense Poison Apple Red colour, has been streamlined with the removal of the rear door handles, a customised carbon bonnet with a transparent power dome and a racing-style fuel filler door integrated into the driver-side rear panel.
Concept Jeep Willys Dispatcher
A true synthesis of the brand’s past and present, the Jeep Willys Dispatcher is a 4xe Wrangler concept that recalls the civilised Jeeps of the early post-war period with a robust and functional appearance, complemented by the electrified off-road potential of the modern 4xe propulsion system. The exterior of the Willys Dispatcher concept has been completely revamped with a retro design. Super Traxion 36-inch tyres wrap around vintage-style 16-by-7.0-inch alloy ‘steelies’ wheels. A custom “old school” front bumper houses a new, classic-looking Warn 8274 winch with a Warn Epic Series hitch and D-rings. As on the beloved flat-fender Jeeps of yesteryear, “WILLYS” is engraved on the sides of the bonnet. The windshield header is coated in gloss black, while the exterior is painted in a custom shade of Element 115 Green, beautifully highlighted by the cream-coloured steel wheels. Inside, the Dispatcher boasts custom upholstery: a mix of saddle leather and houndstooth fabric inserts. The front and rear headrests have been removed to give the seats a vintage look with low backrests, an element typical of cars of yesteryear.
Jeep Gladiator Rubicon High Top concept
The Jeep Gladiator Rubicon High Top concept clarifies the intentions of Mopar’s Jeep Performance Parts (JPP) design and engineering teams. The goal is to push the performance of the world’s best-performing mid-size off-road vehicle to the next level for the annual visit to Moab. The bold exterior in Ginger Snap metallic colour and retro-inspired two-tone graphics certainly don’t go unnoticed. The Gladiator Rubicon High Top concept uses the new 40×13.5R18 BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO3 tyres mounted on KMC Grenade Crawl black satin-finished 18-by-9.0-inch beadlock wheels. Flat JPP concept wheel arches at all four corners offer ample freedom of manoeuvre when off-roading. The unstoppable Dana 60 front and rear axles with 5.38:1 axle ratio and the adjustable AccuAir air suspension make it even easier to tackle any off-road adventure. The rugged 3.6-litre Pentastar V-6 engine, mated to an eight-speed TorqueFlite automatic transmission, offers a wide torque range, especially at the low revs that are essential for off-roading.
Jeep Vacationeer concept
From the Spearminted exterior to the customised and expanded interior, the Jeep Vacationeer concept is a premium SUV that combines comfort, adventure and modern performance while remaining true to the Jeep brand’s legendary heritage. In addition, with a nostalgic twist, the JPP design team has pleased many classic Jeep enthusiasts by equipping the Vacationeer concept with exclusive wood graphics on the bodywork. These elements recall the Jeep Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer models that dominated asphalt and dirt roads from the late 1960s to the early 1990s. Ready to tackle any adventure Moab has to offer, 35-inch BFGoodrich mud tyres mounted on 18-inch by 9-inch 701 Method racing wheels offer 1.5 inches of lift for superior off-road performance. Larger wheel arches and customised body extensions add an aggressive touch to the look of this concept. Front and rear skid plates protect the underbody, while the Warn front winch allows the vehicle to cope with the toughest off-road situations. The white Rhino-coated roof features three 11-inch TYRI LED lights in the front section, providing excellent front lighting.
