The Quadrilatero della moda in Milan hosted the reveal of the “Sky is the limit” project, a collaboration between BMW Italy and Alcantara. This one-off creation is based on BMW’s first high-performance sports car powered by a hybrid engine. According to the statement, the creative project is inspired by the dualism of values between dynamism and exclusivity and the luxury of the environment, realised by playing on the black/white colour contrast of Alcantara.

The BMW XM has been clad in Alcantara both inside and out with the intention of combining aesthetics and performance from the excellence of Italian tradition. The use of BMW black Alcantara for the car’s exterior is unusual: it gives a matt effect that contrasts with the glossy black inserts. The surfaces have been covered with precise craftsmanship and an eye for detail, taking its cue from the geometric shapes of the German SUV. The cabin at the front is upholstered in black Alcantara covering the seats and left door panel, while the rear passenger seats are in ice white Alcantara to create a luxurious and exclusive ambience reminiscent of an elegant living room. The centre armrest of the rear seats conceals a compartment to hold a bottle and two glasses. For the maximum comfort of guests on the rear sofa, two additional small ice-coloured cushions decorated in the same pattern as the door and headlining interiors have been created.
