Against the backdrop of the America’s Cup, one of the world’s most prestigious sporting events, Cupra has unveiled the new Terramar, the sporty SUV tasked with taking the brand into a higher market segment. The Terramar embraces the Spanish brand’s new styling language, with a bold and confident look: the sporty SUV features the iconic three-triangle light signature, thanks to Cupra Led Matrix Ultra technology.
The styling created by the design team led by Jorge Diez is strong, with the grille giving way to the lower air intake and reminiscent of sports cars. The designers worked to achieve proportions that emphasised performance, with taut, sweeping lines that cross the side moving from front to rear. Right at the rear is the desire to achieve a particularly sharp style: the Cupra logo has been placed in the centre, while the model’s naming is backlit. Finally, the diffuser sets a certain contrast with the other design elements, helping to lighten the proportions and give the model a provocative character.
Like the exterior, the interior embraces the concept of sportiness with a driver-oriented cockpit enhanced by the design of the centre console. The Terramar also winks at sustainability with upholstery in recycled Seaqual®, Dinamica with at least 73 per cent recycled fabric or leather using a green tanning process. Digitisation takes centre stage for the driver with a newly developed HMI in the digital cockpit and the 12.9-inch infotainment system with a backlit slider. Music is not left to chance either: credit for this goes to the 12 Sennheiser speakers that make up the audio system.
