Citroën unveiled the C5 Aircross Concept at the Paris Motor Show, a showcar that anticipates the shape of an upcoming C-segment SUV. The model has, according to the French manufacturer, a line-up that intelligently responds to the needs of customers looking for an affordable yet characterful SUV that offers ample on-board space, maximum comfort and great practicality for families. Designed on the Stellantis Group’s STLA Medium platform, the C5 Aircross Concept is a multi-energy vehicle.  The design, created by Pierre Leclercq’s team, favours essentiality over the superfluous, underlining the brand’s new identity and modernity.

The silhouette is based on wide track widths and well-pronounced shoulders, giving it a solid stance and a firm stance on the road. At the same time, the generous passenger cell suggests a wealth of space on board and suggests that this is a family car. The side design is based on pronounced lines of movement from front to rear, with an edge line, trapped between two taut ribs, that curves towards the rear for a more solid stance at the wheels.

The very vertical rear profile hints at a significant load volume. A slight recess on the front doors helps graphically to preserve the overall balance and allows vertical work on the design lines, consistent with Citroën’s latest silhouettes. This consistency is also expressed by the addition of vertical colour clips on the front doors and front section of the C5 Aircross Concept, a true signature and reference to the C3 and C3 Aircross. The rear section has been specially designed to improve aerodynamic performance. The roof is sloping and the cabin is curved at the top. The design is inspired by the world of technology and electronics, particularly in its approach to cooling and ventilation.
