Suzuki presented its first electric vehicle model in Milan: the ‘e Vitara’. Production of the car will begin at India’s Suzuki Motor Gujarat plant in spring 2025, while sales are expected to start in various countries, including Europe, India and Japan, in summer 2025. ‘E Vitara’ builds on the eVX concept car, which was unveiled in January 2023 at the Auto Expo in India and the Japan Mobility Show in October of the same year, and is the first electric model designed by Suzuki for global markets.

‘E Vitara’ is characterised by an assertive design combining strength and innovation. The styling was developed by Kimitoshi Sato – Design Manager Suzuki Automobile Styling Design Division – and his team, following the thread ‘High-Tech & Adventure’, which combines the avant-garde appearance of a 100% electric vehicle and the rugged nature of an SUV. The exterior features an eye-catching design characterised by large tyres and a long wheelbase, while the interior features an integrated display with advanced functionality and panels and centre console with rugged upholstery, reflecting the ‘High-Tech & Adventure’ theme.

On the ‘e Vitara’, the new ‘Heartect-e’ platform, developed specifically for BEV models, makes its debut. It features a lightweight and robust structure, high-voltage protection and a spacious interior achieved through reduced overhangs. The platform’s robust structure eliminates the need for stiffening stringers, thus maximising the capacity to accommodate battery cells.
