An unexpected return. Renault has announced that the legendary Renault 5 Turbo will arrive as a new production model. It will be called Turbo 3E, will be electric and will have more than 500 horsepower. The series of episodes of the documentary Anatomy of a come-back, airing from 13 December on Prime Video, explains how the Renault group managed to transform itself following an unprecedented crisis in the industry, which occurred in the early 2020s. From the design of new models, such as Renault 5, to the pits of the BWT Alpine Formula One Team, via the secrets of production and the exclusive reveal of a new model: a true human adventure told by characters who have faced great challenges, grappling with difficulties and defeats, but also successes.

At the end of the fourth episode of the series, Luca de Meo, CEO of the Renault Group, Fabrice Cambolive, CEO of the Renault brand, and Gilles Vidal, Design Director of Renault, unveil together the future Renault 5 Turbo 3E that will soon be on the market as a production car. Forty-four years after the first Renault 5 Turbo, Renault is reviving this new extreme and sporty icon to the delight of all enthusiasts. The Renault 5 Turbo 3E is a reinterpretation of the Renault 5 Turbo and Turbo 2 that combines top-level performance, self-conscious exuberance and multiple references to the world of motor racing. The race car profile and livery colours evoke the historic colours of the version that raced in rallies in the early 1980s. Renault 5 Turbo 3E, a 100% electric bolide, will use its retro-futuristic design to integrate a modern element such as a charging socket in one of the rear air intakes, reminiscent of the style of the original ‘Turbo’. The carbon superstructure will give it lightness and maximum rigidity, an indispensable combination for a ‘sports bomb’ worthy of its name and glorious past.
