Since the days of the Beetle, Volkswagen has ensured affordable mobility for millions of people with compact, eye-catching cars. With the world debut of the showcar ID. Every1, Volkswagen reveals the all-electric entry-level model that will see a production version in 2027. Regardless of the perspective from which the new ID. Every1, this compact Volkswagen reveals itself to the observer in all its power and ease. This is thanks, among other things, to the visual stability, also called ‘stance’ in designer parlance. Pushing the Volkswagen’s volume forcefully onto the road are the distinctly flared wheel arches above the large 19-inch wheels and the sturdy C-pillar at the rear. At 1,816 mm in relation to length (3,880 mm) and height (1,490 mm), the car is also relatively wide. The combination with very short and therefore dynamic overhangs creates an extremely balanced and stable design that conveys a high degree of confidence.

The streamlined, stripped-down design of the ID. Every1 contributes greatly to the resulting stability and ease. There are no superfluous frills. Every line follows the logic of the form, every surface is homogenous and recognisable. These clean shapes and lines give the ID. Every1 a timeless, high-quality appearance. The refined definition of lines is particularly evident in the car body, thanks to the vigorous surfaces of the doors. Added to this is a typical Volkswagen feature: the absolutely straight window line, just like that of the first Golf.

First, it is the details, sometimes even hidden, that constitute another important pillar of Volkswagen’s new design language: the secret ingredient. In the ID. Every1, one of these magical elements is the Flying Roof Concept. Here the roof surface is lowered in the middle (without limiting the headroom inside). This gives the ID. Every1, which is 1,490 mm high, an extremely eye-catching look as well as an unmistakable hallmark, especially from the rear perspective. The secret ingredient also includes two design highlights: a third brake light has been integrated at the rear and is clearly visible in the lowered central part of the roof. On the other hand, the outer surfaces in the end strip of the roof are extended backwards. These visually suspended elements simultaneously act as an aerodynamic trailing edge at the rear. In this way, air displacement is reduced. The result: an increased range.

With its linearity and aesthetics, the new Volkswagen design developed by Head of Design Andreas Mindt and his team also puts the interior of the ID back centre stage. Every1. Through the four doors, you enter a new world of compact cars that has nothing to envy from the upper segments. This starts with the materials: the soft surfaces are in warm colours that are pleasing to the eye. Together with the defined design and lounge-style seats, this ensures a particularly cosy atmosphere. A large part of the fabrics is made of recycled materials, such as recycled PET bottles. Thanks to the use of a new grit surface, the city car has a jaunty, modern appearance. The deliberately simple shapes are emphasised by richly contrasting colours and arouse curiosity to the touch. And moving on to the available space: with an exterior length of 3,880 mm, it is positioned between the up! produced until 2023 and the current Polo.
