Lexus has unveiled the LFA Concept, a prototype for the development of a new electric sports car born from the vision of Akio Toyoda, president of Toyota Motor Corporation. The model follows in the footsteps of the Toyota 2000GT and Lexus LFA and embodies Toyota’s “Shikinen Sengu” principle, which passes on techniques and skills from veteran car manufacturers to younger generations so that they can be learned and developed. The model was unveiled alongside the GR GT and GR GT3 from the Toyota Gazoo Racing team.
The Lexus project is based on key elements such as a lightweight, high-rigidity frame. It is made entirely of aluminum, while the driving position has been designed with the aim of strengthening the bond between car and driver. Lexus has created a sports car suited to the era of electrification, with aerodynamic, streamlined shapes and a design that echoes that of the previous generation at the rear. The LFA Concept represents the closest evolution to the production version of the Lexus Sport Concept, unveiled at the Japan Mobility Show.
The wraparound cockpit offers the same ideal driving position as the GR GT and GR GT3, enhancing the feeling of compactness between car and driver to deliver unprecedented driving pleasure. The interior has been carefully crafted in every detail, with functional components arranged around the driver to create a sense of tranquility. The steering wheel has been designed for use during sporty driving, eliminating the need to change grip when cornering, while the layout of the switches facilitates intuitive control of the vehicle. Overall, the minimalist approach meets the appeal of a sophisticated design and refined interior space to create a feeling of great comfort and sportiness at the same time.
