For the first time, Volkswagen has opened the doors of the new ID. Polo, offering a glimpse into the interiors of its future models. The new holistic approach to design, shaped primarily by customer feedback, will define the cockpit of upcoming ID. models. General features include quality and clarity, intuitive controls that further develop the familiar operating logic of the interiors. At the same time, a new generation of software brings unprecedented functionality to the ID. Polo. The charm of the 1980s is now on board thanks to retro graphics: at the touch of a button, the digital instrument displays transform into screens reminiscent of the first Golf.
The brand’s new design philosophy is “Pure Positive.” This impression is reflected in details such as fabric-covered surfaces on the dashboard and door inserts, as well as in the pleasant feel of all surfaces, buttons, controls, and handles, which create an inviting and welcoming atmosphere. In addition, the new interior layout focuses on even more intuitive operation. Key elements include: displays with clear information and simplified menu structures, more physical buttons for direct functions, a multifunction steering wheel with clearly recognizable button controls, and the adoption of familiar operating logic typical of Volkswagen brand cars.
“The ID. Polo is an accessible friend for everyday life. Just as the Polo always has been, but now also electric,” said Andreas Mindt, Head of Design at Volkswagen. “We have created an interior that feels welcoming from the moment you get in. Intuitive physical buttons offer stability and confidence, warm materials make it attractive, and charming details such as the new retro instrument graphics show the typical Volkswagen spirit. All this makes the ID. Polo a compact car with a big heart: Pure Positive in its purest form.” The ID. Polo has a clear horizontal development of the dashboard architecture. Two large displays convey the digital instrumentation behind the steering wheel, with a screen diagonal of 26.0 cm (10.25 inches), and the 33 cm (almost 13-inch) touchscreen infotainment system, which stands out in its segment in terms of size and functionality. The graphics are high-resolution and precise, and the central display is easily accessible for the front passenger as well.
