BITING STYLE
The new Peugeot 308 changes from top to bottom and debuts the French manufacturer’s new logo. Designed by the Peugeot style centre headed by Matthias Hossann since July 2020, the hatchback has increased in size compared to the previous generation, an element that has given it new proportions: 4.36 metres long, 1.4 metres high, 1.8 metres wide and a wheelbase of 2.6 metres. The front end has been redesigned and the large grille now houses the new logo in the centre.
The grille encircles the slim headlights, from which the LED segment for the daytime running lights starts. The radar for the driver assistance systems is hidden behind the logo, while, in order not to spoil the style of the front, the number plate has been moved to the lower part. The sides of the car are fluid but gain in character thanks to two squared-off elements above the wheel arches.
The rear has been designed according to aerodynamics and starting from the optimal air passage points for this type of bodywork, defined in the wind tunnel. The LED lights are slim and extend all the way to the side of the car, giving rise to a rib that is found under the C pillar. The lights are connected by an element that extends across the entire width of the car. Finally, in the lower part of the car there are two chromed elements, in the sports versions, which simulate the presence of two exhaust pipes inside them.
The interior has been designed around the new generation i-Cockpit, the set of technical and technological elements (small steering wheel and infotainment system and instrument screens) dedicated to driving. The construction of the dashboard is based on the ‘high-vent’ architecture which places the air conditioning diffusers in front of the occupants, allowing the central 10 inch touchscreen to be closer to the driver’s hand. Below the display are i-toggles, fully reconfigurable virtual buttons that replace the physical climate control interface.
