During Monterey Car Week, Ferrari presented a unique Ferrari 812 Competizione, a tailor-made car inspired by the concept of blank sheet that represents the starting point from which the Ferrari Style Centre led by Flavio Manzoni starts for the creation of each new model. The car is one of the 999 examples of Ferrari 812 Competizione that will be produced, a limited and extremely exclusive series intended for the best collectors and fans of the most exciting twelve-cylinder in the world, and stands out from the others for a celebratory plate affixed to the inside as evidence of its original inspiration.
The process of developing the artisan techniques used to create such original and creative patterns lasted over a year of close collaboration between the Centro Stile and the Ferrari Tailor Made team that deals with the most innovative customization projects at Ferrari. The main challenge was to find the perfect balance between impeccable technical achievement and maintaining the creative spark and artistic craftsmanship that spring from Manzoni’s drawings, which provided the inspiration for this model with unique details.
The car, in fact, has been imagined as one of the now iconic yellow cards on which the Maranello designers transfer their first ideas, intuitions and notes from mind to paper and on which – iteration after iteration, detail after detail, idea after idea – new concepts, unique stylistic features and shapes are being composed that will become part of the history of Italian automotive design. On the car, in matt Trilayer Yellow, the lines composed by the designer who imagined the elegant and sporty shapes of the 812 Competizione and its most iconic details have been drawn in matt DS Sketch Black. Among them stand out the carbon fiber blade that cuts the front bonnet horizontally acting as an air intake for the engine, the characteristic gills on the side – a tribute to the best twelve-cylinder Ferrari tradition – as well as the vortex generators that stand out on the rear window without windows, replaced by a rear camera hidden from view.
The same concept is echoed in the interior. The new generation Alcantara that covers the cockpit of this 812 Competizione, composed of 65% recycled polyester and presented as a world premiere on Ferrari Purosangue, is embellished with design sketches that have been embroidered directly on it with a highly innovative technique. This is a real unicum for the cars of Maranello, which usually provide upholstery for custom motifs inside their cars. The elegant interior design is completed by the floor and rear wall of the passenger compartment, in black trefoil Superfabric.
