Kia has appointed Oliver Samson as Head of Design Center Europe in conjunction with the appointment of Seungmo Lim as Head of Kia Design Center China. Both will take office as of 1 April. According to the statement, the new designers will support Kia’s dedication to high-impact design and the dissemination of the ‘Opposites United’ philosophy.
Oliver Samson, after starting his career as Exterior Designer at the Hyundai & Kia Motor European Design Center, returns to the brand as Head of Innovation Design Platform at the Changan European Design Center in Italy. During his career, he was also Exterior Design Director at NIO as well as part of the Mercedes-Benz Advanced Design Team for more than a decade.
Seungmo Lim, comes to Kia as Deputy Head of Innovation Design for Geely Automobile and with more than a decade of experience in BMW’s design department in Munich, having won numerous awards including the iF Design Award. With a bachelor’s and master’s degree in Transportation Design, his perspective will be invaluable to the Kia Design Center China in guiding the brand through its transition to become a provider of sustainable mobility solutions.
