Kia has released details of the EV3, the new compact, all-electric SUV. A successful combination of bold design, innovative technology and revolutionary features, the EV3 sees the principles of the Opposites United styling philosophy, known for working out the creative tension generated by the divergent values of nature and modernity into a harmonious whole, has been central to defining the EV3’s progressive, dynamic and characterful design. The influence of this philosophy elevates the perception of the EV3, integrating a dynamic aesthetic with purposeful functionality.

“EV3 perfectly interprets our design philosophy: a combination of playful design with thoughtful functionality. Although compact, the innovative exterior lines reveal a spacious interior that portends great comfort and relaxation on every journey. The distinctive forward-looking design language is further emphasised by the choice of bold colours; inside, the spacious cabin and the use of new organic materials evoke a distinct feeling of energy and playfulness,” said Karim Habib, Executive Vice President and Head of Kia Global Design. From the side view, the EV3 is characterised by lines that suggest exceptional strength, combined with elements that together offer an impression of powerful agility and dynamism.

The elongated, sloping roofline fits elegantly and seamlessly into the almost sedan-like tailgate, emphasising the highly modern design. The dynamic silhouette and voluminous cabin offer a spacious interior, while the intersecting volumes and graphics further accentuate the innovative character. The EV3 has a spacious cabin that comfortably seats five people. It has been conceived as a space with maximum functionality and efficiency, much like a living space, precisely to be enjoyed on every journey and even when charging. An elegant centre console offers a sliding table and storage area. The space underneath can be used to store drinks, snacks and even small backpacks, while personal electronic devices – such as laptops and tablets – can be placed on the table when the vehicle is stationary.
