Originally launched as the Toyota BJ in 1951, the Land Cruiser became the first vehicle to reach the sixth station of Mount Fuji. Since then, it has fulfilled its mission: to ensure safety for all kinds of people, in places that only the Land Cruiser can reach. To continue this tradition, Toyota has unveiled the new Land Cruiser FJ, which is scheduled to launch in Japan in mid-2026. The exterior design follows a silhouette that emphasizes a square cabin, taking into account the roominess and load capacity that successive generations of Land Cruisers have prioritized.
The front and rear express a strong sense of stability through powerful bumpers and flared fenders on a simple body defined by taut lines. Both the front and rear bumpers are removable, allowing only damaged parts to be replaced to improve repairability, while also taking customization into account to allow users to enjoy their Land Cruiser in a unique way.
The FJ has a cab layout that allows you to be comfortable and tackle a wide variety of driving conditions, with a horizontal instrument panel that makes it easy to recognize the vehicle’s attitude, a monitor, and buttons to minimize eye movement. Large glass surfaces provide excellent forward visibility thanks to the low hood and dashboard, contributing to driving safety on and off the road. The low beltline improves visibility of the road surface even on rough terrain.
The dynamism provided by the vehicle type will allow for various customizations that will increase the pleasure of personalization (various elements are expected to be introduced sequentially during the model’s life cycle). One of these features round headlights reminiscent of previous generations of Land Cruisers, panels for attaching outdoor equipment that can provide cargo space for various uses, and sturdy, functional exterior elements that embody the Land Cruiser’s distinctive off-road style for going anywhere.
