Citroën presents Elo, a concept car that opens a new chapter for the brand. Following the same approach as the Oli unveiled in 2022, Elo is also a concentration of ideas that explores new design territories that will inspire the French brand’s thinking for the future. It is the perfect embodiment of Citroën’s values: bold, intelligent, creative, and focused on comfort and well-being. True to over a century of innovation in the service of freedom of movement and a more sustainable way of life, Elo embodies this desire to anticipate the needs of a world in motion. It is a fun, intelligent, accessible, spacious, and responsible means of transport that offers a broader and reinvented vision of mobility, designed to give more value to its users’ time and accompany them through the different stages of their lives.
With its boldness and know-how, Citroën is now exploring highly innovative solutions to reinvent livability and reinterpret the spirit of the minivans and minibuses that have marked its history. Elo was designed as an everyday companion: a place to rest, play, or work—rEst, pLay, wOrk—thanks to its complete and intuitive modularity. The car takes full advantage of a 100% electric architecture, offering compact dimensions that conceal an exceptional interior space. With a compact minivan design (4.10 m), it is at home in urban areas, which are its home turf, but also invites you to get out of the city and enjoy a trip in the open air. Thanks to its spacious and modular interior, which can accommodate up to six people, it meets the needs of an increasingly hectic lifestyle of travel, leisure, family activities, teleworking, and spontaneous trips.
“Elo perfectly expresses the essence of design, which is the ability to combine style and functionality. It brings a breath of fresh air with its colorful and captivating personality, its modernity, and all the possibilities it offers for living a rich and intense life. Citroën’s styling teams had fun imagining a model designed down to the smallest detail to be practical, fun, and smart,” said Pierre Leclercq, Citroën’s head of design. Elo’s ease of use is also reflected in its instrumentation. This new concept from Citroën is based on the principle of projecting information onto a dedicated surface. In the previous Oli concept from 2022, information and applications were projected onto the “smartband,” a wide horizontal strip positioned at the bottom of the windshield. Elo’s flat screens are reflected on a transparent panel equipped with a reflective film that creates a magical effect: the colorful information appears to float across the windshield, allowing access to information without taking your eyes off the road. This new display requires much less expensive technology in terms of development and potential production than a classic head-up display.
The rear row has three seats, all of the same width and with folding backrests. The three rear seats are removable and can be easily converted into armchairs for use as outdoor seating. Two additional seats are hidden under the side seats in the second row, which open with a simple movement in a slightly rearward position on either side of the driver’s seat. These two additional seats offer generous legroom. In the six-seat configuration, boot space is not sacrificed thanks to the ingenious modularity of the various seats. The four side doors open in opposite directions and the absence of a central pillar allows easy access across a width of 1.92 meters. The completely flat floor makes it easy to move around inside the vehicle in any configuration.
