For some time now, Garage Italia, Lapo Elkann’s atelier, has been working, among other things, to revive some iconic cars of the past in a 100% electric version with the initials Icon-E. The last examples were the Panda 4X4 Icon-E and the 500 Icon-E. On the Instagram page of the Milanese company has been published a first image of what could be the next project of Garage Italia: an Alfa Romeo Duetto Icon-E.

“Would you like the next car in the Icon-E series to be a Duetto? It would be based on the fourth series, because we don’t want to play too much with the classics,” Garage Italia asks its followers. And among all of them there’s one that’s a bit special, “Seeing this legend again and reliving so many memories fills me with joy. Bravo Garage Italia!”, comments Walter de Silva who directed the Alfa Romeo style centre from 1986 to 1999.

From the sketches shown the car keeps its general character practically intact, but adds new references to the past. The most evident is the hard top in plexiglass, a clear reference to what many people call the most beautiful Alfa Romeo ever: the 6C 3000 CM Superflow iV, bodied by Pininfarina and presented at the Geneva Motor Show in 1960.
