More than six years ago, a team of specialists in luxury, design, engineering and craftsmanship came together to begin development of the new Rolls-Royce Ghost. Since the introduction of Ghost, which has become the most successful Rolls-Royce in history, the brand’s unique proximity to its customers has allowed the team to access a wide range of information. These insights have also informed Rolls-Royce’s designers, engineers and craftsmen during the development phase of the new generation of the Ghost.
Rolls-Royce designer Henry Cloke identified an emerging aesthetic defined by purity and minimalism, internally called “Post Opulence”. “We found that Ghost’s clients were looking for objects that were instinctively unexceptional. They rejected the challenging details and instead looked for pieces of the highest quality, carefully designed. This philosophy has defined Ghost’s new minimalist design treatment,” said Cloke. The stylistic philosophy is presented in the video below through drawings by illustrator Charlie Davis.
