“Elegant and technological” is how Gilles Vidal, head of design at Renault, describes the Austral, the French manufacturer’s new C-segment SUV. Taking up the codes of the current range, the design teams wanted to propose a distinctive, refined and decidedly modern vehicle. According to the statement, the designers used all the criteria that make an SUV attractive in terms of proportions, ratio, overhang and wheel size, emphasising the shoulders and giving it a muscular look.
The result is an SUV with personality that doesn’t forget its contemporary nature. “Renault Austral combines strong styling elements that give it a dynamic and elegant design. You can see the quality at first glance. We’ve reduced the bodywork alignments and perfected the overhangs to convey an immediate feeling of quality,” says Gilles Vidal.
