The Maserati GranTurismo (design story in Auto&Design no. 260 due out in May) will be the Trident’s star performer at the 2023 edition of Milan Design Week. Three original GranTurismo One Offs from the Maserati Fuoriserie Programme will divide their time between real and virtual, while the GranTurismo Launch Edition PrimaSerie 75th Anniversary, created to mark its recent 75th anniversary (produced in 300 examples – 75 for each of the internal combustion engine versions, in Grigio Lamiera and Nero Cometa, and 75 for the Folgore electric version, in Rame Folgore and Blu Inchiostro), will add a further touch of exclusivity to the selection designed to enhance the long-distance sports car par excellence. The Granturismo One Off Prisma and the Granturismo One Off Luce, respectively powered by the V6 Nettuno internal combustion engine and in the Folgore full electric version, will be flanked by the intrepid flair of Hiroshi Fujiwara, eclectic friend of the Trident, godfather of streetwear and author of his own personal interpretation of the high-performance coupé. The Japanese artist will present a Digital One Off and, at the same time, his capsule collection, conceived especially for Design Week.

The GranTurismo One Off Prisma is dedicated to the history of this glorious car and proudly expresses its past and the brand’s ability to push the envelope. A colour combination of 14 different colours dresses the bodywork. Two of these speak to the future, the other twelve have been selected from the pigmentations of the best-loved GranTurismos of yesteryear, such as the characteristic Amaranto colour of the 1947 Maserati A6 1,500, or the Longchamps Gold that illuminated the 1973 Maserati Khamsin. The mantle of this extraordinary One Off is embellished with a detail of over 8,500 letters, applied by hand, that make up the Maserati names, creating a second shade and harmonising the entire colour scheme, executed strictly by hand.

The GranTurismo One Off Luce is a declaration of innovation and sustainability, literally reflecting Maserati’s ongoing research and experimentation work. The mantle of this marvellous interpreter of tomorrow is an original mirrored chromatic monolith, decorated with a dynamic laser-engraved motif and painted in an almost absent colour that renders the car’s contours imperceptible, allowing it to blend in with its surroundings. The interiors are a hymn to the future, made of Econyl monomaterial – a regenerated nylon thread, for a unique aesthetic metamorphosis – that combined with laser processing expresses dynamism, the same that enhances the dashboard and panels, through “high frequency” printing technology, widely used in the field of fashion, in a transparent colour that enhances the play of light and underlines the car’s modern soul. “Granturismo Prisma is an ode to our 75-year heritage and the know-how that has gone into all the cars made by Maserati over time. Granturismo Luce is our future, looking ahead, in perfect balance with Prisma. Each one makes sense as a function of the other,” said Klaus Busse, Head of Design at Maserati.
