Fiat has imagined what the ice cream van of the future could look like. The UK branch of the Turin-based manufacturer has created the Fiat 500 Gelateria Edition to bring an Italian twist to the traditional ice cream van and a taste of la dolce vita to the streets of Britain.

The 500e Gelateria Edition features a bespoke interior: the passenger and rear seats have been removed to allow the gelato maker to move freely around the car, serving gelato to customers in the back. The two-tone finish evokes the spirit of a classic local Italian ice-cream parlour from the 1950s; the Gelateria Edition’s interior and exterior are rich in light blue and cream, with matching wheels.

The ice cream tubs are mounted above a custom-built cabinet containing freezers that store up to 30 litres of ice cream – enough to serve around 300 people a day – as well as additional accessories such as cones, tubs and spoons. The 500e Gelateria Edition also features a cream-coloured dashboard finish with a Gelateria badge in bronze next to the reupholstered driver’s seat.
