The Mercedes-Benz Group Board has announced management changes that also affect design. Starting February 1, 2026, Bastian Baudy, currently head of design at AMG, will take over from Gorden Wagener as head of design. According to the announcement, Wagener, currently Chief Design Officer, will leave the company at his own request on January 31 after three decades of service. After graduating from high school, Bastian Baudy studied automotive design at the University of Pforzheim, where he graduated in 2010. He then joined Mercedes-Benz, where he began his career in Advanced Design. His most recent position was Head of AMG Design, and one of his favorite projects is the Mercedes-Benz AMG Vision Gran Turismo.
Ola Källenius, Chairman of the Board of Management of Mercedes-Benz Group AG, publicly thanked Gorden Wagener: “He has shaped the identity of our brands with his visionary design philosophy. Over the years, he has made a decisive contribution to ensuring that our innovative products are synonymous with unique aesthetics around the world. I would like to thank Gorden for his commitment, his outstanding work, and his lasting influence, and I wish him all the best for the future.”
