“The car is and will remain central to the development of emerging technologies, we need knowledge sharing between universities and companies. That is the only way we will be able to achieve great results”. These were the words with which Marco Gilli, rector of Turin Polytechnic, opened the “New Energy Vehicle” seminar organised recently by JAC Motors in collaboration with the Polytechnic. The focus of the meeting was the great themes of mobility as they relate to hybrid and electric cars and to smart cities.

The conference also provided an opportunity for displaying the new JAC Motors IEV6S, unveiled at the last Beijing Show, an electric crossover with declared range of 251 km and 33 kWh batteries.

The seminar was attended by illustrious guests including prof. Wan Gang, Chinese Minister of Science and Technology and Vice President of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference. The Minister recalled the commitments made at the Climate Conference in Paris in 2015, specifying that China is carrying out great investments in the automotive sector in order to achieve its objectives. Among the possible solutions are increases in research into vehicles with hybrid powertrains, an increase in public funding in order to acquire hybrid or totally electric vehicles, and the introduction into cars of advanced technology systems able to interact with the driver. All this to the benefit of fuel consumption and emissions.
