Stephane Janin, former head of Renault’s Concept Car department, has been appointed as the new head of GAC Advanced Design Europe as of November 1, 2021. The Chinese manufacturer’s first European design center is scheduled to open in Milan during 2022.

“Stephane Janin joining GAC Design reflects the growing international influence and appeal of GAC Design, and we are very excited to be able to expand the appeal to the rich resources of design talent in Europe to cement our leadership in the industry,” said Fan Zhang, Design Vice President GAC Design. “With his design experience and vision, Stephane is a perfect designer to lead our continued commitment to innovation in our upcoming Advanced Design studio in Europe.”

Stephane Janin joins GAC Design after 20 years at Renault where he designed many successful concept cars, such as the Renault EZ family of vehicles and the Renault Trezor sports car. During his time at Renault, he also worked with various brands within the group and partners including Dacia, Alpine, Samsung, Infiniti and Nissan, in various design studios located in France, Spain, South Korea and Japan. Janin is a 1997 graduate of the Royal College of Art in the United Kingdom.
