With the debut of the Lincoln Model L100 Concept at Pebble Beach, the American manufacturer unveils its idea of the vehicle of the future. “Concept cars allow us to imagine new experiences that can come to life with the help of advanced technologies and give our designers unique creative freedom,” said Anthony Lo, Chief Design Officer of Ford Motor Company. “With the L100 model, we were able to push the boundaries of our brand while still following the ‘Quiet Flight’ styling philosophy and come up with new design ideas for the Lincolns of the future.”

The full, smooth volumes communicate good aerodynamic efficiency, something Lincoln designers have been working on for a long time. The front end is assertive, the openings are kept to a minimum and the LED light signature runs across its entire width. The use of lighting proved fundamental to the design: the brand logo is illuminated as are the rims and the lower part of the bumper. The LED line covers the entire perimeter of the vehicle, which has completely smooth sides and a truncated tail at the end of the rather sloping roofline.

The purity of the exterior volumes is reflected in the interior designed as a liveable space that can be transformed into different configurations. The cabin can take on a traditional layout or transform into a lounge where one can relax on long journeys or work as if in an office. The centre console looks like an interactive chessboard, while the steering wheel has been replaced by a real controller. The design team chose sustainable materials for the interior, consistent with the zero-emission nature of the Model L100.
