The new Opel Astra GSe was developed by the German brand with many details designed for this sporty version and specific technical contents. Eun Seok Lee, Opel’s Assistant Chief Exterior Designer who was in charge of the model’s development, recounts them in a video. “We have specific styling elements for the GSe versions, both at the bottom and the top of the Opel Astra front,” explains Lee. “In particular, on the GSe version there is a black logo, which is perfectly integrated into the Vizor. The lower front end has a specific design, specifically designed and reserved for the GSe version, to give it a more dynamic and sporty look. At the rear we find the black colouring of the Astra logo and lettering, as well as the GSe badge. In the lower area various elements have a special gloss black finish to give the Opel Astra a more modern style.

With the Astra the Gse badge is back at Opel, traditionally the abbreviation for “Grand Sport Einspritzung” (Grand Sport Injection) which signed legendary models like the Commodore Gs/E the Monza Gse. The GSe elements give the Astra an even more purposeful look: from the 18″ alloy wheel design inspired by the electric Opel Manta GSe concept to the front bumper to the GSe logo on the tailgate.
