Volkswagen unveils the new ID.7, an electric sedan with which the German automaker intends to electrify long trips thanks to a range of 615 kilometers achieved thanks in part to aerodynamic optimization work. The new ID.7 is a fast-back sedan 4,961 mm long with a long wheelbase (2,966 mm) and short overhangs. The height of the lower ID. model is 1,538 mm. Already on the basis of these proportions the aerodynamic ID.7, which is 1,862 mm wide (without exterior mirrors), takes on an elegant and athletic appearance at the same time. The Cx value is about 0.23 (depending on the trim), the frontal area measures 2.45 m2.

To the side, the windshield surround and pronounced coupe-style C-pillar stand out. The roof and roof pillars are always done in gloss black. The roof moldings are in aluminum look. Another stylish feature of the elegant side design is the distinctive line below the base of the window; it runs with a sharp “cut” from the headlights to the rear, visually lowering the height of the ID.7 and giving the silhouette a strong positive energy. Aerodynamic front end. The ID.7’s design is particularly characterized by its sculptural hood and Led headlights with the thin Led strip for daytime running lights and turn signals integrated into the top. A Led fascia joins the headlights. Below, in the bumper, side air intakes (air curtains) towards the wheel arches stand out.
The dominant detail of the ID.7’s interior is the soft padded dashboard in front of the driver and front passenger that features a clear horizontal structure. Integrated into the linear design are the optional decorative elements illuminated by soft lighting and the horizontal fascia of the air vents.

Contrasting stitching is inserted between the fascia of the vents and the decorative elements. All this highlights the spaciousness of the cabin. The ID.7 is the first Volkswagen to come standard with a head-up display with augmented reality. The cockpit layout follows a new path in that classic instrumentation is no longer required. The central interface between man and machine is the visually separate 15-inch touch display of the next-generation infotainment system. The GUI and menus have been extensively redesigned with the aim of making operation of functions as simple, intuitive and customizable as possible. The display has been divided into two always-visible touch bars and the Home screen.
