Lexus is presenting five creative works at Milan Design Week 2026, including the world premiere of the “SPACE” installation, alongside four original contributions from “Discover Together 2026,” a co-creation project featuring emerging talents working alongside Lexus designers. The exhibition, hosted at Superstudio Più in Milan’s Tortona district, will run through Sunday, April 26. “All five works presented this year explore the potential of space. Last year, Lexus unveiled the LS Concept as the brand’s new flagship. Although the ‘S’ in LS has historically stood for ‘Sedan,’ it now stands for ‘Space.’ This reflects the belief that luxury cars will no longer be defined solely by their body type, but by the value of the space within them,” said Chief Branding Officer Simon Humphries.

“Visible Invisible” Kyotaro Hayashi & Yumi Kurotani

“We believe that the invisible currents of emotion give rise to richness. In Japan, there is a culture and philosophy that values what cannot be seen. We envisioned this space as a tea room, where the passage of time and the presence of the space are felt through the changing light. In a tea room, people’s status and background do not matter; everyone is equal, and a space is created where spirits can truly connect. The “nijiri-guchi,” a low entrance that requires a bow, momentarily resets the field of vision and physically marks the transition into the tea room as a separate world. The resting space and the garden express the seasons and the passage of time, evoking scenes that resonate with memory and stir emotions. By rendering this transition through moving images, we expand light and space to create an experience akin to a miniature universe.”

“Wearable Space” Studio Guardini Ciuffreda

“Wearable Space” is based on the idea that the body is not merely something that inhabits space, but something that can generate it. Through a coat embroidered with optical fibers, light emerges from human movement and expands into the surrounding space, transforming the act of wearing into an experience that connects matter, energy, and presence. Technology and sartorial tradition meet in a delicate balance, where innovation does not replace craftsmanship but amplifies it. Within this dialogue, fashion becomes both language and sensory experience: a threshold between intimacy and architecture, between body and environment.

“A Moving Sanctuary” Studio Casual

“A Moving Sanctuary reimagines the car as a space for tranquility and reflection. The installation invites visitors to step into a padded, cocoon-like capsule inspired by the quiet intimacy of the backseat of a chauffeur-driven vehicle. Once inside, guests lie down while a thermal sensing system detects the rhythm of their breathing. This data triggers a responsive choreography of lights and sounds that unfolds within. Each experience is unique, gently guiding the body toward slower, calmer breathing, transforming the vehicle into a sanctuary for the mind.”

“The Crafted Cosmos” Japanese Master Craftsmen Collaborate with Lexus Designers

This installation focuses on the exceptional craftsmanship of Japanese artisans. From microscopic precision refined to 0.1 mm to a cosmic scale of infinite expansion, the delicate details shaped by the artisans’ hands, together with light, offer new expressions of space. Through this work, the infinite potential of Japanese craftsmanship is revealed on a cosmic scale. In this beautiful universe of craftsmanship, a single ‘Cosmos’—long sought in the depths—emerges, offering a moment of silent realization.
