Hyundai has introduced Bayon, a new compact SUV (B-segment) designed and engineered specifically for Europe. The car features compact dimensions and a spacious interior, along with a wide range of intelligent safety and connectivity features. In line with Hyundai’s current SUV naming strategy, the name is inspired by a holiday destination: the city of Bayonne, capital of the French Basque Country and one of the most fascinating destinations in Southwest France.

“With its bold look Bayon consolidates the styling direction of the brand’s sport utility vehicles. We expect its unique and confident appearance, embodied in its bold lines and arrow-shaped lights, to make the model the most unique and exceptional entry point into the burgeoning European B-Suv segment,” says Luc Donckerwolke, Chief Creative Officer of Hyundai Motor. The car features a distinctive exterior design: at the front, the large front grille opens downwards to reinforce the model’s road presence, while the three-part light clusters, combined with the air intakes, create a unique light architecture with a distinctive look.

The side profile provides a wedge-shaped appearance and the arrow-shaped C-pillar creates a dynamic and unexpected architecture. These elements, in combination with the detailing on the wheel arches, define its unique character. At the rear, the arrow-shaped lights emphasise the dynamism of the pillars and their positioning at the side ends creates greater visual width. In addition, a thin red horizontal line connecting the tail lights further emphasises the vehicle’s width and creates continuity between the rear and side of the model in a single line.

The interior is defined by a comprehensive range of connectivity equipment, including a 10.25-inch digital cluster alongside a 10.25-inch screen or an 8-inch display (standard). Passengers can benefit from LED ambient light technology, which is integrated into the front passenger footwell, door storage pockets and front door handle housings, as well as the compartment under the centre console. The choice of subtle colours and finishes, with subtle and discreet design elements, helps to create a relaxed atmosphere that allows the driver to concentrate better on driving.
