The most radical interpretation of an electric citycar comes from Cupra with the UrbanRebel Concept, a zero-emission “urban car” prototype that will be launched as a production model in 2025. “The Cupra UrbanRebel Concept sports a car look like something out of a racing video game, projecting a radical interpretation of our urban electric,” explained Jorge Diez, Cupra’s head of design. “Each of the design’s contour lines and sculpted surfaces is animated by a livery that uses kinetic particles to add movement to the surface as light moves across it.”

On the front end, the sharknose was created using a negative surface. The front end is also emphasized by the new triangular signature in the headlights. The wraparound design of the glass surfaces generates the visual effect of a helmet – as on the Cupra Tavascan Concept – and gives continuity between the windows around the entire car giving the effect of a suspended roof. At the side, the car flaunts athletic proportions thanks to the wedge-shaped line that runs from the C-pillar to the front door, with sculptural diagonal surfaces that create tension contrast. The rear view of UrbanRebel Concept shows vigorous shoulders, in a new interpretation of the already known Cupra Formentor design.

The rear shows an iconic design thanks to the horizontal proportions. In addition, the large spoiler – a nod to the race cars seen in the virtual world – gives it an imposing and assertive look, highlighted by the negative surface underneath. With an overall length of 4,080 mm, a width of 1,795 mm and a height of 1,444 mm, the car anticipates the proportions of the future electric urban car in racing guise. The UrbanRebel Concept delivers 250 kW of continuous power and 320 kW of peak power. It boasts a 0-100 km/h acceleration of 3.2 seconds.
