“The legend returns on 9 March 2022”. With these words Herbert Diess, CEO of the Volkswagen Group, announced on his twitter profile – along with the publication of a sketch – the debut date of the Bulli, the legendary van of the German manufacturer that will exploit the platform for electric only Meb. The car was anticipated in 2017 with the debut of the ID concept car. Buzz at the Detroit Motor Show.
In 2011, however, the German manufacturer showed the Bulli Concept: “A model that showed for the first time the idea of a return of the famous Volkswagen T1, conceived in a reduced format. This model already received very positive feedback more than 10 years ago”, says Klaus Zyciora, head of design at Volkswagen Group. The new-generation Bulli could see the arrival of new batteries with a capacity of over 111 kilowatts, giving the van, which is also available as a commercial vehicle (ID. Buzz Cargo), a range of around 600 kilometres. In 2025, the electric van will also be available in a California version, specifically for camping.
