DeLorean has unveiled in Pebble Beach the Alpha5, heir to the legendary DMC-12 designed in 1981 by Giorgetto Giugiaro. The car is a 100% electric coupe with elegant lines, created by the Italdesign team, in continuity with the 41-year-old project.

The car will be produced in Italy and is a four-seat coupe that is nearly five meters long with the two, ever-present, gull-wing opening doors that made the 1980s progenitor starring in the film Back to the Future legendary. The interior has a rational layout with two displays, a horizontal one for instrumentation and a vertical one for infotainment, while the dashboard is unobstructed and seems to extend all the way to the doors to envelop the driver and passengers.

The lines of the exterior follow an approach devoted to aerodynamics, highlighted by elements such as the turbine wheels and especially crucial when the powertrainm, as in this case, is exclusively electric. Specifically, the 100-kilowatt-hour battery pack should give the Alpha5 a range of 480 kilometers while performance would attest to a top speed of 250 kilometers per hour and a 0-100 in 2.9 seconds.
