Opel asked creative designers and design students to create an original and also somewhat crazy design based on the Opel Rocks-e for the “Rocks-e Design Hack” project. Young designers from all over the world took part in the social media competition with ideas that impressed the jury, which included Opel CEO Florian Huettl, Vice President Design Mark Adams and influencer and car tester Jessica Thön. The winner of the project is Lukas Wenzhöfer from Hünfelden (Germany), who is studying at the Pforzheim University of Design, and who convinced the jury with his interpretation of the Opel Rocks-e as a fun-mobile electric off-roader: the Rocks e-xtreme. Opel will build a one-off Rocks-e based on the winning design and the community will be able to follow the creation process of the concept via social media.

The Rocks e-xtreme is a fun vehicle. The wheels are positioned on the outside to make the car wide and safe, at the front there are double wishbone suspensions and a bright yellow roll bar. Finally, at the rear, the large spoiler with the turquoise ‘e-xtreme’ inscription and the number ‘001’ show that this is a unique battery-electric two-seater that aims to achieve a very specific purpose: to offer pure off-road driving pleasure. Driving pleasure that, according to the jury, deserved first prize in the competition.
