The athletic appearance of the new Bmw M2 derives from its compact dimensions, powerful proportions and distinctive ‘M’ design features. The exterior length is 214 millimetres shorter than the M4 Coupé and the wheelbase is 110 millimetres shorter. At the same time, the vehicle and track widths far exceed those of the 2 Series Coupe.

The large, frameless double kidney grille with its horizontal bars combines with a three-section air intake (to let the 460-horsepower 3.0 six-cylinder petrol engine breathe better) with almost rectangular contours to give the car’s front end a true ‘M’ look. The design was based on technical requirements in terms of cooling air supply and aerodynamic balance. Muscular surfaces, well flared side skirts and protruding wheel arches set the tone for the car, especially in the side view. The rear of the new M2 also has a compact and powerful appearance thanks to the lip spoiler on the boot lid, vertically arranged reflectors, the rear apron diffuser and the two pairs of exhaust tailpipes positioned well inboard of the outer edges. Five colours are available for the new M2, including Zandvoort Blue and Toronto Red metallic, exclusive to this model.
