McLaren Automotive has announced the appointment of Tobias Sühlmann as its new Chief Design Officer. He will take up his duties from next September. Sühlmann has worked for many major luxury brands including Bentley, Bugatti and Aston Martin. For Sühlmann, this is a return to McLaren, where in his previous experience he held the position of Lead Designer for Special Projects, overseeing the design of the McLaren Solus GT single-seat hypercar.
Sühlmann will work from the McLaren Technology Centre in Woking, Surrey. Tobias Sühlmann graduated from the University of Pforzheim in 2005 before joining the Volkswagen Group the same year. He later continued his career by becoming Head of Exterior Design at Bugatti and Head of Exterior Design at Aston Martin. Before joining McLaren, he served as Head of Bentley Design.
