With the Mercedes-Benz Vision One-Eleven, the brand presents a sports concept car that progressively reinterprets the C 111, a brand icon from the 1970s designed by Bruno Sacco. Just like its historic predecessor, the One-Eleven combines futuristic design with highly innovative propulsion technology. The One-Eleven’s minimal ground clearance was made possible by the installation of axial-flow motors in the wheels (branded YASA).

The Vision One-Eleven combines a highly dynamic design language with innovative zero-emission propulsion technology. The silhouette of the supercar is characterised by the skilful execution of the characteristic Mercedes-Benz One-Bow design, the seamless line from the front to the rear that characterises all new electric Mercedes cars. “Our goal is not to do styling, it is to create icons. For me, that makes the difference between traditional design and luxury. Design icons like the Type 300 SL and the C 111, both with gull-wing doors, are part of our DNA. These legendary vehicles were the main inspiration for the iconic design of the Mercedes-Benz Vision One-Eleven,” explained Gorden Wagener, Chief Design Officer, Mercedes-Benz Group AG.

“The element of surprise comes from its exceptionally clean, purist and, at the same time, extremely muscular proportions,” Wagener continued. “This iconic clarity is also reflected in the interior. The equally sensual yet minimalist design language stands for Iconic Luxury by Mercedes-Benz. From the low front end to the muscular rear quarters, the One Bow Line runs in a smooth arc that gives the silhouette a sculptural appearance. This harmonises with the copper orange paintwork. It provides an unmistakable reference to the distinctive colour of the C 111. The colour of this concept car is considerably more intense than that of the C 111 and also changes with the light. It conveys not only a sense of quality but also a certain extravagance,’ says Wagener.

Inside, the concept presents a sporty cockpit model accompanied at the same time by a lounge concept. In race mode with the backrest upright and the compact driver-facing touchscreen, the interior becomes that of a minimalist race car. In lounge mode, on the other hand, the seats are integrated into the interior sculpture that combines the floor, centre tunnel and luggage compartment into a single unit. This arrangement creates a new and airy space concept. Unlike previous mid-engined sports cars, the One-Eleven exploits the compact proportions of the electric motors to the advantage of the rearward-facing cabin. It is an invitation to the occupants to relax, taking their time – a completely new approach for a sports car of the future.
