More than 50 years of history (it arrived in 1972) and eight generations under its belt: the BMW 5 Series is one of the Munich-based manufacturer’s longest-lasting and most successful models. The ideal meeting point between the 3 Series and the 7 Series (from the first it aims to bring back the driving pleasure, from the second the comfort), it is the brand’s best-selling three-volume car with over 10 million units sold. Today it is completely renewed in all respect: platform, powertrain and, naturally, design.

Unlike other recent models of the brand, the 5 Series adopts a less disruptive appearance. The double kidney grille, for example, remains horizontal despite growing significantly in size, and the headlights maintain the classic led signature which still pays homage in a stylized way to the classic circular lights on each side introduced in the past. Of course, even though we are talking about evolution rather than revolution, the differences with the previous generation are evident, with bolder lines and more defined surfaces.

As for engines, the new BMW 5 Series debuts on the market with a very wide range, with power between 197 and 601 horsepower. You can choose between gentle hybrid versions (both petrol and diesel), plug-in hybrid and, for the first time in the history of the model, also 100% electric. The BMW i5, this is the name of the battery-powered variants, underline their zero-emission nature with a series of dedicated aesthetics. Among these, also the completely closed grille in “piano black” which, if desired, can be enriched by the led frame.

The new BMW 5 Series leads the way in the company’s new infotainment system, which is based on the 8.5 software and which introduces new functions in terms of connectivity and autonomous driving. The user experience improves thanks to the new user interface and the presence of new apps that allow access to various types of services, including streaming and gaming services, for those who want to pass the time during a charging session.
