After seeing it for the first time at the end of the summer, we got behind the wheel of the new Opel corsa. Now in its sixth generation, the German manufacturer’s smallest car is now more modern and mature, not only thanks to a fresher design in line with the brand’s latest family feeling, but also and above all thanks to a series of interventions aimed at making the model more efficient and practical in everyday use. The shapes and proportions remain those of the previous series, but the style has been profoundly revised, especially at the front, where the Opel Vizor, the large grille that incorporates the Opel logo and the renewed headlights with matrix technology in a single element, now dominates the scene, while the model’s lettering on the tailgate makes its debut at the rear.

There are also many new features inside the cabin. Once on board we are greeted by a more refined ambience than in the past. The choice of new upholstery materials, especially for the seats, has raised the level of perceived quality.

The seating is comfortable and all the controls are within easy reach. Technological content also increases, expressed in the presence of a digital instrument cluster and a new infotainment system with a 10-inch screen and a profoundly revised graphic design that now resembles that of a tablet, making it easier to use even while driving. Also revised is the structure of the load compartment, which on the electric variant can rely on a practical double bottom inside which charging cables can be stored.

And it is precisely the electric that we put to the test on the roads around Milan, in the new variant powered by the new 156 hp engine with 51 kWh battery, capable of ensuring an autonomy of 405 km. The choice of new materials for the interior has had positive repercussions not only in terms of style, but also in terms of comfort, especially acoustic comfort. Creaking noises are very low and in general the level of soundproofing has increased a lot.
