General Motors has announced that Michael Simcoe, Senior Vice President of GM Global Design, will retire after a 42-year career with the company, effective 1 July 2025. Simcoe will be replaced by Bryan Nesbitt, currently executive director of Global Cadillac Design. ‘Michael is a visionary designer and leader,’ said Mark Reuss, president of General Motors. ‘Under his leadership, GM Design has created an extraordinary portfolio of vehicles that customers love. At the same time, we are thrilled that Bryan is stepping up to lead GM Design, where he will use his considerable talent and formidable leadership skills to take us into the future.’
Cadillac’s latest concept vehicles, Opulent Velocity and SOLLEI, were built under Nesbitt’s leadership. Under Simcoe’s leadership, GM’s design studios have produced numerous award-winning products, including the Cadillac Lyrq, GMC Hummer EV and Chevrolet Equinox EV. Simcoe also supported the conception and execution of GM’s flagship Design West studio, located on the campus of GM’s Global Technical Center in Warren, Michigan.
