A demo-car to demonstrate the level of energy efficiency achievable by a car. The Renault Filante Record is a laboratory vehicle that embodies the concepts of audacity and innovation, merging tradition and a futuristic vision of electric mobility. It also pays homage to Renault’s history and heritage which, since its inception, has always used motorsport and records to validate innovations before integrating them into production models. Inspired by legendary models such as the 40 CV des Records (1925-1926), Nervasport des Records (1934) and Etoile Filante (1956), this single-seater combines stylistic exercise, aerodynamic efficiency and cutting-edge technology.

‘This vehicle was designed as a true sculpture in motion. The lines, inspired by fighter plane bodies and the speed records of the last century, evoke the pursuit of performance and timeless elegance. Every surface has been carefully treated to capture the light and emphasise a profile that seems to merge with the air. The blue windows and the harmony of colours reinforce this aerial vision, while the entire design is designed to express lightness and fluidity,’ said Sandeep Bhambra, Director of Advanced Design at Renault and Ampere.

For the colour chapter, the designers chose an unprecedented Ultraviolet Blue hue for the model, which makes the reflections on the bodywork change from blue to violet depending on the perspective. However, the main inspiration behind the demo-car’s profile comes from the world of aeronautics. Enclosed in a protective aerodynamic bubble, the cockpit is reminiscent of the cockpit of fighter planes, while every detail of the bodywork has been optimised to reduce air resistance, with visual elements reminiscent of the curves and shapes of high-performance aircraft. Another highlight is the front and rear wheel fairing, which stands out as both a styling element and a key aerodynamic solution. It contributes to giving the vehicle a monolithic look while improving its air penetration capacity. Combined with the wide flanges of the side wheels, this also creates a fluid profile, seamless from a visual point of view.

The interior has been designed in the same spirit as the exterior, with a cockpit reminiscent of the world of aviation and space, where every single detail is designed for maximum performance, comfort and efficiency. In this essential environment, every element (safety and opening controls, cruise control, accelerator, braking system, etc.) is within easy reach, with a design that focuses on ergonomics and weight reduction. Even the choice of materials is guided by this philosophy. The driver’s seat has, in fact, been made in hammock style, in taut fabric, for maximum lightness while guaranteeing optimum support.
