As the second model in the Neue Klasse lineup, the BMW i3 represents a technological leap into a new era. The sedan showcases the German automaker’s new design language, characterized by its signature sporty proportions, which are reflected in the new design that BMW calls the “2.5-box.” Among its most notable features are the long wheelbase, the rearward-sloping glass area, and the shortened bumpers.
The front end, featuring four headlights, pays homage to tradition while innovating upon it. The grille, with its twin headlights that merge into a unique light signature, creates a powerful and expressive whole. The rear, with its prominent horizontal taillights, emphasizes precision and technological advancement. The muscular wheel arches, the rearward-sloping glass surface, and the sharply forward-leaning “shark-nose” front end are all signature elements of the brand. The aerodynamic 21-inch wheels pay homage to the classic cross-spoke design inspired by motorsports.
The interior of the BMW i3 interprets the design language of the Neue Klasse with particular intensity. The interior design is dynamic, airy, and modern, characterized by optimal driver-oriented layout, a reimagined user experience, and a harmonious interplay of geometry, light, and sound. Digital and physical elements blend seamlessly thanks to the coordinated design of the ambient lighting, the graphics on the central display, and BMW Panoramic Vision.
In the new BMW i3, four key elements come together in a single display and control system: the Panoramic Vision and the optional 3D Head-Up Display project driving-related information directly into the driver’s field of vision. The Free-Cut Design center display, featuring backlighting technology, is also positioned next to the steering wheel. It is tilted 3 degrees toward the driver for even more direct orientation.
